race report: donington

Oliver Cottam took on the challenge of Donington Park this weekend, competing in rounds four, five, and six of the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB. The weekend featured a mix of weather conditions, adding an extra layer of complexity to the races.

Practice and Qualifying

Friday's practice session was characterised by very mixed weather, with heavy rain early on, followed by good weather later in the day. These varied conditions provided valuable experience, although qualifying did not go as well as hoped. Struggling to find pace, Oliver qualified 13th overall, setting him up for a challenging race day.

Race 1

Starting from 13th position in race one, Oliver managed to hold his position, finishing in 12th place. While it wasn't a race of major gains, it was a clean and steady performance, which laid a good foundation for the rest of the weekend.

Race 2

Race two saw Oliver starting from 10th position, thanks to two consistent laps during qualifying. He made some solid progress, moving up two places to finish in P8. This result was a significant improvement and provided a strong starting point for the final race of the weekend.

Race 3

In the final race, Oliver started in a promising position, but an incident at the start resulted in a penalty. Despite this setback, he managed to finish in P11. Although the result was not what he had hoped for, the race provided valuable experience that will serve him well in the future.

The weekend at Donington Park presented both challenges and opportunities for Oliver Cottam. While qualifying and the penalty in race three were setbacks, there were positive moments, particularly in race two with a strong finish. Oliver continues to build on his experience, with a focus on improving performance in the upcoming rounds of the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB
